A Few Updates

Happy week 7, Homecoming and Halloween.

Dance only Tickets Questions

Hi all!
I chatted with Bethy and Mary this morning and there doesn't appear to be any set plan for the Dance Only portion of the Homecoming Celebration.

Here's the final plan/decision:
  • We are not advertising this option. We want to avoid students getting drunk and then heading to the dance after.
  • Tickets can be purchased at the door ONLY; no sales will be done before
  • Tickets will be $10

Happy Thursday! A Few Updates


Happy Thursday of Week 4 Team,

I hope this message finds all of you well!

I just wanted to send a few reminders and updates as we head into the weekend so here goes.


  • Tomorrow, I will be out of the office at a conference downtown and Rachel will also be out. If you all need anything or have any questions, please call my cellphone which can be found at the desk or send me a text if it is urgent. I will get back to you ASAP. If you can't reach me then try Bethy second. 
  • Bethy already sent a reminder email but one more time doesn't hurt we will have our first all staff meeting this Saturday here in WAC at 10am. 
  • Also, we have a number of sign ups at the desk now including
    • Cardinal Games Individual Sign ups (Team signups are available online and can be found in the newsletter that comes out tonight and they will also be on CardinalNet) can be found in a binder at the desk. 
    • Free tickets for the play Time Wasted are still available this weekend at the WAC front desk. 
    • Chicago Fire Tickets are on sale right now and they are $5 dollars and students can purchase 2 per ID and they will need to provide details on the person who is going and that person should be over 18 and will have to do waivers as well. There is also a bus that will be transporting students unless they decide to self transport
  • Lastly, the crank is back at the desk to use to divide the rooms upstairs if needed. We will go through how to use those this weekend at our staff meeting for our new team members but just wanted to make you all aware!

Event Sign Ups at WAC Front Desk

Good Morning All,

In the past two days I have noticed that there have been a few problems with the ledger, receipts and event sign ups at the WAC front desk so I wanted to send another email reminding you all what the process is.

Below are the complete steps to doing an event sign up at the desk and taking a payment and all of these steps must be done to avoid discrepancies.

Steps to Sign Up for an Activity at the Desk:

1. Ask student if he/she has the required deposit/cost (if applicable).
2. If yes, give student all required paperwork from red folder to fill out. EVERYTHING MUST BE FILLED OUT. Incomplete paperwork will require the student to revisit WAC and finish necessary paperwork. This may not hold their spot.
3. Fill out receipt (book in drawer) and ledger (in envelope in cash box) if a monetary cost is associated. Please initial both the receipt and the ledger to help us keep track of who collects what.
4. Distribute any other necessary paperwork associated with the trip.

Also, I started doing withdrawals from the cash for intramural sign ups so you will see on the ledger that there will be a note from me that says I withdrew X amount. When you do your tally you should input the total amt that is in the cash box PLUS the amount that I withdrew. That will ensure that your amount of sign ups matches the total dollar we have on hand.

I am going to post this information on the website as well, and I will need each of you to comment on that post to let me know you have read and received this message.

Substitution Ground Rules

Hi everyone!

I hope your first few weeks in school are going well. As we have been getting used to sending our shift coverage requests, I wanted to emphasis on a few rules with regards to filling a substitution request. It is ideal that any and all shift overages that come through should be for the entire duration of that shift. For example, If I needed an hour of my shift covered and I post that on the website, 15 minute of that shift cannot be posted on the website to be covered. If there is no one available to cover the whole shift and there is no other option, please run it by me first before you post it.

Happy Week 2! A Few Reminders

Good Morning All,

I hope this message finds you all well and adjusting into the new school year and your work at the WAC Information desk. If you all have any feedback on things from Week 1 please don't hesitate to let me know! As we want to make it better each and every week.

On that same note I have a few reminders and updates to start the week and I will begin with scheduling things for myself and Bethy.

  • Just a heads up, on Mondays I am not in until 12pm but will be in the office and around campus until 9:00pm on these days. Just in case someone is looking for me. 
  • Bethy will be in the office this week Monday - Wednesday from 9am until 2pm in case you need her
  • I am in the office all week but will have Student Activities Fair tomorrow at 4:00pm and will be in and out of meetings the rest of the week. 
A few WAC reminders 
  • Just a heads up, if you email myself or Bethy we will get back to you within a 24 hour time period during the week and if you email us on the weekend we will get back to you sometimes within 24 hours starting Monday morning. Therefore if you need an immediate response to something regarding your schedule or an emergency on the weekend please call me on my cell, but if it is something in regards to a schedule change, please try to email us before the weekend. 
  • We have already started event sign ups at the desk! Hooray! And I have had a few desk attendants ask that I remind everyone of a few items for sign ups. 
    • When you get a Red Folder you can put it in my mail box and  I will sign them. After they are signed. Then you can email Bethy and ask her to add them to the tally. 
    • If you are making a Red Folder please remember to make copies of the permission slip and if there's an associated cost, make an envelope for the cash box with a ledger in it
    • All sign ups that involve payments all need receipts completed for them. (there is a receipt book behind the white board) So you need to fill out the receipt book, give the person buying the item 1 copy of a receipt and then leave the other in the book AND you must complete the ledger. This is the only way that we can make sure our numbers are matching.
  • If you have any questions about these updates please don't hesitate to ask and if you need myself or Bethy, to walk through the process with you just let us know!

    Heads Up!

    Each fall, through the coordinated efforts of the College's Crisis Task Force, Department of Campus Safety, Building Drill Leaders and the Naperville Fire Department, we conduct academic building fire drills. This is an ongoing safety "best practice."
